Q: What’s the title of your new book?
A: Above Us Only Sky
Q: Describe the book in one sentence.
A: A luminous, richly imagined novel that blends the fantastic (girls born with wings) with the brutal as Prudence Eleanor Vilkas sets out to discover the epic story of her ancestors—and the shared history of their war-torn Lithuania.

A: Since the summer before 2nd grade

A: The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass

A: The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass because of the way he seamlessly blends the horrors of war with the fantastic and absurd, making them believable.
Q: What brings you to the Outer Banks?
A: A promise I made to my husband: when my first novel was published, we would move here. Ta da!
