Meet the Booksellers!

Lori-Jo Scott

Lori-Jo has been working at Island Bookstore in Kitty Hawk since 2009 and loves helping customers find their next favorite book! She and her husband have lived on the Outer Banks since 1989; they have two wonderful sons and an awesome hound dog.  Lori-Jo enjoys reading all genres, only reads one book at a time, and panics when there aren’t at least two books waiting on deck.  If she isn’t in the Kitty Hawk store, Lori-Jo can probably be found on a tennis court or in a quiet place reading.

Lauri is the third person in her family to work at Island Bookstore.  Usually it’s the children following in their parents footsteps, but this time it’s the reverse – she has followed in theirs.  Both of her daughters have worked at Island Bookstore through their high school and college years. Lauri loves meeting and talking with customers who come from near and far.

When she’s not at work, she enjoys camping with her husband and family and spending as much time as possible in the fresh air.  She enjoys reading several types of genres, including southern literature, historical fiction, biographies, and espionage, to keep it interesting.
